Emre Can (5/10)

Emre Can converted from the spot and looked strong in the first half. But he had a big dip in performance after the break. The BVB captain left way too many gaps in midfield, and Heidenheim were able to take full advantage on the counter-attack.

Marcel Sabitzer (5/10)

Sabitzer put in a much improved shift in midfield and was more involved in the attacking play, even though he did miss two good chances in the first half. He was caught chasing bodies after the break, and was replaced by Youssoufa Moukoko late on.

Julian Brandt (6/10)

Playing in his favourite number eight role, Brandt continued his strong start to the season by giving Borussia Dortmund the lead with an excellent finish. He looked very lively early on and caused the Heidenheim defenders a lot of problems. But his impact started to decrease as the game went on.
