Borussia Dortmund are hoping to welcome Julien Duranville and Gio Reyna back into the squad after the international break.
Gio Reyna has been sidelined since June, when he suffered an injury while playing for the United States in the Concacaf Nations League against Canada. It was earlier thought that the attacking midfielder had suffered a calf injury, but has since been reported that he fractured his leg.
Borussia Dortmund did not comment on the exact nature of Reyna’s injury, but he was forced to miss the entire pre-season. The 20 year old is finally back in team training and is working hard in his bid to return to action. The hope will be that Reyna can return to the BVB squad for their Bundesliga clash against SC Freiburg after the international break.
Julien Duranville is also closing in on his return, and is expected to be available for the game against Freiburg. The highly rated Belgian winger picked up a thigh injury during Borussia Dortmund’s pre-season friendly against San Diego Loyal in July and had to miss the majority of pre-season. He is now fully fit again and will look to kick-start his BVB career.
Duranville joined Borussia Dortmund from Anderlecht in January and made his debut on the final day of last season. The 17 year old scored his first goal in BVB colours against San Diego Loyal, just minutes before he was forced to come off due to injury.
Having Reyna and Duranville back in the squad would certainly bolster Borussia Dortmund’s attacking options. Edin Terzic’s side have scored just four goals in their opening three Bundesliga matches.
