Gregor Kobel out of Switzerland duty due to thigh issue

Gregor Kobel will be forced to miss Switzerland’s Euro 2024 qualifying clash against Andorra on Tuesday due to a minor thigh issue.
Borussia Dortmund will be sweating on Gregor Kobel’s fitness ahead of this weekend’s Bundesliga clash against SC Freiburg, after the goalkeeper was ruled out of Switzerland’s clash against Andorra due to a minor thigh issue.
Kobel will stay with the Switzerland national team for now, and will continue to train individually. But he will miss their European Championship qualifier against Andorra on Tuesday.
The BVB goalkeeper was due to replace Yann Sommer between the sticks against Andorra. But he will now have to wait some time before making his sixth appearance for his national team. BSC Young Boys goalkeeper Anthony Racioppi has been called up as Kobel’s replacement.
The hope will be that Kobel’s injury is not a serious one, as Borussia Dortmund will definitely need their first-choice goalkeeper for their upcoming crunch matches in the Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League.
Gregor Kobel has featured in all four of Borussia Dortmund’s competitive matches so far this season, and has been one of the team’s standout performers. But if the BVB vice-captain is unable to recover in time for Saturday’s trip to SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga, second-choice goalkeeper Alexander Meyer will line up between the sticks.
This is Borussia Dortmund’s second injury scare of the international break. Niclas Füllkrug was forced to drop out of Germany duty last week after picking up what was described as a minor muscle injury.
