Report: Borussia Dortmund monitoring Jadon Sancho’s situation but January move unlikely
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund are said to be keeping a close eye on Jadon Sancho’s situation at Manchester United, but are unlikely to be able to afford a move for him in the January transfer window.
Jadon Sancho has not been able to recapture the form that made him one of the best young wingers in the world at Borussia Dortmund since joining Manchester United in 2021. And his future with the English Premier League side was put into serious doubt after he was left out of their squad for the game against Arsenal earlier this month.
Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag claimed that Sancho was dropped due to his performances in training. But the 23 year old rubbished those claims and said that he was being made a scapegoat.
Reports in England are now claiming that Borussia Dortmund could look to bring Sancho back to the club in January. However, SportBILD are reporting that there isn’t much truth to this rumour at the moment as the Black and Yellows simply cannot afford the winger’s salary.
While BVB are monitoring Sancho’s development, they exhausted their transfer budget with the €15 million signing of Niclas Füllkrug late in the summer transfer window. And it remains to be seen if they will be able to make any new signings in January.
Jadon Sancho made a total of 137 appearances for Borussia Dortmund, scoring 50 goals and assisting a further 64. He has not been able to make a similar impact at Manchester United, where he has just 12 goals and six assists to his name in 82 matches.
