It was an eventful matchday four in the Bundesliga, sparked by some exemplary individual performances and milestone moments.

Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen began matchday four of the Bundesliga season with a bang, as they played out a 2-2 draw on Friday. Despite taking the lead twice through Harry Kane and Leon Goretzka, Bayern weren’t able to get the three points.

Xabi Alonso’s side managed to equalise first through Alex Grimaldo, and then via a 94th minute penalty from Exequiel Palacios. The win helped Bayer Leverkusen stay at the top of the Bundesliga standings on goal difference.

RB Leipzig flexed their muscle once again, as they beat Augsburg 3-0. Xavi Simons continued his sparkling run of form as he scored one and set up another. Loïs Openda and David Raum also scored for Leipzig, who have made an impressive start to the season despite their summer overhaul.

Wolfsburg also made it three wins in four after beating Union Berlin 2-1. Jonas Wind’s sixth goal of the season gave Wolfsburg the early lead, before Robin Gosens equalised for Union Berlin. But the home side took the lead again just moments later, with Joakim Mæhle scoring what proved to be the winning goal.

Frank Schmidt became the longest serving coach in German football history and he celebrated by leading Heidenheim to their first ever Bundesliga win on Sunday. A brace from Eren Dinkçi and goals from Tim Kleindienst and Jan-Niklas Beste helped the newly promoted side beat Werder Bremen 4-2.

Darmstadt let a three goal lead slip against Borussia Mönchengladbach as the two sides played out a thrilling 3-3 draw. The newly promoted side raced to a shock three goal lead in the first-half thanks to goals from Marvin Mehlem, Matej Maglica and Tim Skarke. Maglica was then sent off, allowing Gladbach to roar back into the game.

Jordan began the comeback, before Florian Neuhaus and Tomáš Čvančara scored to secure a share of the spoils for Gerardo Seoane’s side.
