Borussia Dortmund were dominated in all aspects of the game as they fell to a 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in their UEFA Champions League opener.

Borussia Dortmund were outplayed and outfought by Paris Saint-Germain on matchday one of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. Goals from Kylian Mbappe and Achraf Hakimi helped the Ligue 1 champions cruise to a comfortable 2-0 win. The Black and Yellows did not create much in terms of chances, with only Jamie Bynoe-Gittens going close in the second half.

Edin Terzic made the switch to a back five to set his side up to absorb pressure and try to hurt PSG on the counter-attack. But the change in tactic did not work, as Borussia Dortmund were second best in midfield and toothless in attack.

Had PSG not taken their foot off the gas in the closing stages, the match statistics would have looked even more grim for Borussia Dortmund.

Here are our player ratings for the Borussia Dortmund players from their 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

Gregor Kobel (6/10)

Kobel did his best to keep PSG at bay and nearly saved Kylian Mbappe’s penalty. But once again, he was left hapless as those in front of him failed to prevent PSG from dominating the game.
