Marco Reus believes that Borussia Dortmund took a step forward with their 1-0 win over Wolfsburg, but it cannot be the benchmark for them this season.

Borussia Dortmund enjoyed a return to winning ways on Saturday as they claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Wolfsburg at the Westfalenstadion. Marco Reus came up with the winning goal in the 68th minute, getting on the end of Julian Brandt’s low cross and turning the ball into the net.

It was a much-improved performance from the Black and Yellows, even though it once again showed that this team is still very much a work in progress.

Marco Reus was pleased with the three points, but admitted after the game that they must keep working hard as they look to find their rhythm. The former BVB captain added that they cannot view the win over Wolfsburg as a benchmark.

"“It was difficult for us to get into the game, but we were calm on the ball, kept control of the game over 90 minutes and remained patient,” Reus told Sky Sport.“You can see that we’re struggling a bit, that we’re not in the flow yet. We can only get out of this together with hard work. The Wolfsburg win was a step forward.”“I think that the performance was okay, but of course it wasn’t the benchmark. We have to just keep going like this.”"

Borussia Dortmund have endured a difficult start to the season, but they will end matchday five only two points shy of the top spot. Next up for Edin Terzic’s side is another tough test away from home, as they take on TSG Hoffenheim who have won each of their last four games in the Bundesliga.
