An outside chance of a Germany call-up?

Mats Hummels will be eyeing success with Borussia Dortmund this season, with his future beyond the end of the campaign still uncertain. He will also be hoping a place in the Germany squad for next summer’s European Championship on home soil, even if he only has an outside chance at the moment.

Although that small chance may have increased slightly following the sacking of Hansi Flick and the arrival of Julian Nagelsmann as head coach.

In addition to rolling back the years on the pitch, Hummels has also been praised by head coach Edin Terzic for his leadership and ability to lead from the front. Even though he is no longer part of the leadership council, the defender sets the tone for the younger players both on and off the pitch.
