Ramy Bensebaini believes that it is a special challenge to replace Raphael Guerreiro at Borussia Dortmund, and he is determined to give his all for the club.

Borussia Dortmund made a big change at left-back this summer, with Raphael Guerreiro leaving for pastures new after seven years and 224 appearances for the club. The BVB bosses decided to replace the Portuguese international with Ramy Bensebaini, who arrived on a free transfer from Borussia Mönchengladbach.

The Algerian international has now commented on the prospect of following in the footsteps of Guerreiro. Bensebaini believes that they are completely different types of players. But he feels that he is now finding his feet at his new club. In an interview with Ruhr Nachrichten, Bensebaini said:

"“For me personally, it’s a special challenge to replace Raphael Guerreiro. He is an absolute top player. I first had to find my footing, as I’m a completely different type of player. But I’m noticing how I’m getting more and more comfortable in the team.”“I think it’s difficult to compare us because we are different types of players. What I can say about myself is that I always want to win and I don’t want to give up my place in the starting XI. I’ll always give 100% and hope I can live up to expectations.”"

Ramy Bensebaini has made a solid start to life at Borussia Dortmund, with fans especially praising his defensive resolve. However, the 28 year old did receive his first red card since his move to BVB against Hoffenheim on Friday and will now be forced to miss the Bundesliga clash against Union Berlin this weekend.

Bensebaini is the only natural left-back in the Borussia Dortmund squad. But he does not view this added responsibility as pressure, and is eager to make his mark at his new club.
