Gregor Kobel is determined to win titles with Borussia Dortmund after signing a long-term contract extension with the club.
Borussia Dortmund extended the contract of Gregor Kobel on Thursday, with the goalkeeper penning a new deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2027/28 season. The Switzerland international has now commented on his contract extension, and he believes that there are no limits to how high the Black and Yellows can go if they play up to their potential.
Kobel feels very comfortable at Borussia Dortmund and is determined to lead the club to titles in the coming years. In an interview with Sky Sport, Kobel said:
"“I feel extremely comfortable here. I think we have a mega team with huge potential. I want us to get everything out of this team and win titles with BVB.”There’s no limit to how high we can go if we play up to our potential. It’s up to us. We have to stay tough, work hard, and be honest with each other.”"
A number of clubs were said to be monitoring the progress of Kobel, including the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Bayern Munich. But the 25 year old never considered the interest of other clubs, and he feels proud to be the vice-captain at Borussia Dortmund.
"“I never really considered it. I have signed a long-term contract with Borussia Dortmund. I have a clear plan and I’m clearly committed to Borussia Dortmund.”"
Gregor Kobel’s contract extension is certainly a huge boost for Borussia Dortmund, who haven’t had the best of starts to the 2023/24 season. The hope at BVB will certainly be that the goalkeeper will decide to stay at the club for years to come.
