Highly rated Borussia Dortmund left-back Tom Rothe has made quite the impact since joining second division side Holstein Kiel on loan.

Tom Rothe is one of several talented young full-backs at Borussia Dortmund, with Almugera Kabar also recently starring for the German U-17s. While even star youth players can fail to progress into the first-team, Rothe already has already accrued just under 2000 senior league minutes between the third and first tier for Borussia Dortmund and now Holstein Kiel.

Borussia Dortmund went into this season with only three natural full-backs and one natural left-back. This has left the club susceptible to needing make-shift options in case of injuries and suspensions. But over in Kiel, one BVB left-back is making quite some big waves.

Tom Rothe made his Borussia Dortmund debut in record-breaking fashion last year, but a spate of injuries prevented him from getting as much playing time in his sophomore season with the club. The 18 year old joined Holstein Kiel on a season long loan deal in the summer, and it is fair to say that the decision is paying off.
