Borussia Dortmund strikers Niclas Füllkrug and Sebastien Haller were both on the scoresheet for their respective national teams on Saturday evening.

Germany went up against the United States in a blockbuster friendly match in Connecticut on Saturday, with five Borussia Dortmund players involved in the game. Mats Hummels and Niclas Füllkrug started for Germany, while Gio Reyna featured for the USMNT.

It was the United States who took the lead, with former Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic finding the back of the net with an excellent finish from the edge of the box after a darting forward run.

İlkay Gündoğan then issued Germany’s response by scoring from close range, before Niclas Füllkrug turned the game on its head with a quick-fire goal and assist in the second-half.

The Borussia Dortmund striker gave Julian Nagelsmann’s side the lead in the 58th minute after being picked out by Robin Gosens. He then set up Jamal Musiala for Germany’s third goal just three minutes later to cap off the win. Niklas Süle and Julian Brandt both came off the bench in the second-half for Germany.

Niclas Füllkrug now has eight goals and two assists in just ten appearances for the Germany national team, an excellent sign ahead of next summer’s European Championship on home soil.
