Borussia Dortmund will hope to make it five wins in five in the Bundesliga as they take on Werder Bremen on Friday.

The Bundesliga makes its return on Friday, with Borussia Dortmund taking on Werder Bremen under the Westfalenstadion lights. The Black and Yellows will hope to gain a measure of revenge after inexplicably letting a two-goal lead slip in this fixture last season.

Borussia Dortmund have managed to arrest their early season woes by winning their last four matches in the Bundesliga.

Edin Terzic is set to welcome Marcel Sabitzer and Ramy Bensebaini back into the squad on Friday. But Youssoufa Moukoko is sidelined after picking up a thigh strain while playing for the Germany U-21s. There are also question marks over the availability of Sebastien Haller and Gio Reyna following their late returns from international duty.

Here we take a look at how Borussia Dortmund could line up for their Bundesliga clash against Werder Bremen.

Gregor Kobel will start in goal for Borussia Dortmund on Friday. The Swiss shot-stopper will hope to build on his strong start to the season.

Julian Ryerson will revert to the right-back role, with Ramy Bensebaini set to return to the team at left-back.

Mats Hummels is expected to start at centre-back, fresh after making his first Germany appearance since 2021. Nico Schlotterbeck will likely join Hummels in the heart of the Borussia Dortmund defence.

It will be interesting to see if Terzic sticks with Emre Can in defensive midfield, or if Salih Özcan returns to the side. The Turkish international was in fine form before the international break and had replaced the club captain as first-choice in the number six role.

Marcel Sabitzer is unlikely to be ready to play from the start just yet, so Felix Nmecha should play in the number eight role.

Marco Reus and Julian Brandt will likely share the playmaking duties on Friday. Both players have a strong record against Bremen, and Brandt scored in both games against Ole Werner’s side last season.

Donyell Malen is expected to start out wide, with Niclas Füllkrug set to lead the attack against his former club. The 30 year old is in fine form at the moment, having scored in each of his last three appearances for club and country.
