Edin Terzic believes Borussia Dortmund’s pragmatic approach is paying off as winning run continues

Edin Terzic believes that his pragmatic approach at Borussia Dortmund is paying dividends after they continued their winning run on Friday.
Borussia Dortmund made it five wins in a row in the Bundesliga on Friday, as they saw off the challenge of Werder Bremen courtesy of Julian Brandt’s second-half winner. As has often been the case this season, the Black and Yellows managed to get the three points without really delivering the spectacular.
But Edin Terzic feels that his tactical approach is a more-success oriented one, rather than focusing on free-flowing football.
"“We tried to draw our conclusions in the summer,” Terzic said. “Less sexy, more success-oriented. We’ve played beautiful and sexy football long enough over the last ten years, but in the end it didn’t lead to us achieving our goals to the maximum.”“You can talk about constant development. We’ve picked up 66 points from 27 games – you have to look in Europe to see if any other team has managed that.”"
This approach has certainly worked for Borussia Dortmund more often than not in the Bundesliga since the turn of the year. But it faltered in crucial matches against Bayern Munich, Chelsea and RB Leipzig last season; and already against Paris St. Germain and AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League this season.
While Borussia Dortmund’s run in the Bundesliga has certainly been commendable, they have yet to face any of the other top five teams in the table. A gruelling run of fixtures awaits Edin Terzic’s side in the coming weeks, and those games will give us a better idea of where this team stands.
