Expected Borussia Dortmund lineup for Newcastle United clash
By Brook Genene
Defenders: Marius Wolf, Mats Hummels, Nico Schlotterbeck, Ramy Bensebaini
With Julian Reyerson sidelined due to illness, Marius Wolf will have to fill in at right-back. The versatile wide player has had some issues when playing in this position, particularly against PSG. Edin Terzic’s hands are tied, however, and the hope will be that Wolf puts in a better display on Wednesday.
The centre-back duo of Mats Hummels and Nico Schlotterbeck has been crucial to Borussia Dortmund’s unbeaten run in the league. Hummels seems to be rolling back the years, while Schlotterbeck is finding consistency in his form. They will be expected to stop Eddie Howe’s dangerous attacking unit.
Ramy Bensebaini has had a mixed start to life in Dortmund. He hasn’t been fully convincing in attack, and his defensive attributes will be in the spotlight against Newcastle United on Wednesday.
