Marius Wolf (7/10)

Marius Wolf ran up and down the right wing all game long and managed to keep Anthony Gordon quiet after a difficult and chaotic start to the game. The right-back made a number of vital defensive contributions and also helped out going forward.

Mats Hummels (7/10)

Despite being outshone by his defensive partner, Mats Hummels still had a fairly decent game. The veteran centre-back kept things tight at the back and intervened whenever Newcastle looked to threaten.

Nico Schlotterbeck (9/10)

Felix Nmecha may have scored the match-winner but Nico Schlotterbeck deserves just as much credit, if not more, for the goal.

The centre-back was in inspired form against Newcastle United and showed on the world stage just why he is regarded so highly in Germany. Schlotterbeck was alert at all times, set the tone by making several crunching tackles and played a crucial role in helping his side earn a vital clean sheet.

Ramy Bensebaini (6/10)

It was a mixed bag of a game for Ramy Bensebaini, who gave the ball away cheaply on a number of occasions but worked very hard on the defensive side of things. In the end, he succeeded in his attempts to keep Miguel Almirón and Kieran Trippier quiet.
