Emre Can made a bright start to the game but was forced to come off early on after picking up what looked like a bad injury.

Felix Nmecha was the difference maker for Borussia Dortmund as he scored the only goal of the game. He was afforded plenty of space inside the Newcastle box and made the most of it with a confident first-time finish. He kept plugging away and did not give in even when he had to chase bodies while defending in the second-half.
Marcel Sabitzer (6/10)
Marcel Sabitzer put in a confident shift on his return to the starting XI. He got things going by helping his side create an excellent opportunity early on. The Austrian international was asked to defend a lot after that, and supported his teammates well without looking to push forward too much.
