Borussia Dortmund sweating on the fitness of Emre Can and Julian Brandt

Borussia Dortmund have two fresh injury concerns to deal with following their 1-0 win over Newcastle United, with both Emre Can and Julian Brandt potentially sidelined.
The Black and Yellows continued their winning run on Wednesday evening, as they earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over Newcastle United. Emre Can started the game in defensive midfield for Borussia Dortmund, but was forced to come off with what appeared to be a very painful injury between his knee and thigh.
Can initially tried to run off the injury, but eventually had to be replaced by Salih Özcan in the 43rd minute. An exact diagnosis has not yet been given by Borussia Dortmund, but Edin Terzic revealed after the game that the club captain was in a lot of pain when he came off.
Julian Brandt was forced to miss Borussia Dortmund’s game against Newcastle United due to a thigh injury that he picked up during Friday’s game against Werder Bremen. Marcel Sabitzer came into the starting XI in his absence.
It currently remains to be seen whether Emre Can and Julian Brandt will be able to feature on Sunday, when Borussia Dortmund make the trip to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga. Brandt has especially been in excellent form of late, while Can also showed glimpses of his quality against Newcastle before coming off.
Julian Ryerson was also absent from the Borussia Dortmund squad against Newcastle United, as he missed the game due to illness. But the hope will be that he can return to the squad for the trip to Frankfurt on Sunday.
