Edin Terzic was full of praise of Felix Nmecha after he scored the winning goal against Newcastle United, who wanted to sign him in the summer transfer window.
Felix Nmecha scored his first competitive goal in a Borussia Dortmund shirt on Wednesday evening, and it proved to be a vital one as it helped them earn a 1-0 win over Newcastle United. The 23 year old made a big impact in midfield and showed why the Black and Yellows decided to sign him as their Jude Bellingham replacement.
Nmecha’s strong performance against Newcastle United prompted praise from Edin Terzic, who said that the midfielder is now in good shape after a bit of a rocky start at Borussia Dortmund.
"“Felix is a brilliant player,” Terzic said during the post-match press conference. “We know about his potential and his talent, and we knew he could improve our game. He had a fantastic game and he finally managed to score.”“It was a different role for him because he played more advanced, more attacking and I think he had a brilliant game. He had a rocky start in Dortmund. He had some minor injuries during pre-season. But now he is in good form and good shape, and hopefully he can continue like this.”"
Nmecha could well have been playing for Newcastle United on Wednesday had things panned out differently. The English Premier League side’s manager Eddie Howe revealed after the game that they were interested in signing the former Manchester City youth team player from Wolfsburg. But he refused to dive into details on why they didn’t end up signing him.
Felix Nmecha has now starred in each of Borussia Dortmund’s last two games, quelling some doubts that arose when he was signed in the summer. He will now look to continue his impressive run of form in the coming weeks, with several crunch matches in store for BVB.
