Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl does not expect Gregor Kobel to be sidelined for too long after the goalkeeper picked up a facial injury on Sunday.

Gregor Kobel injured his nose during Borussia Dortmund’s clash against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga on Sunday. The Swiss shot-stopper took an accidental elbow to his face from teammate Nico Schlotterbeck. He tried to carry on for a little while after receiving treatment, but eventually had to be replaced by Alexander Meyer.

Kobel appeared to be visibly shaken up by the injury. But Sebastian Kehl has allayed fears of a serious injury, and is hopeful that the 25 year old will be back in action before long.

"“I don’t think it’s too dramatic for Gregor. He complained of feeling dizzy and didn’t feel so comfortable,” Kehl said. “But I don’t think he will be out for too long.”"

Borussia Dortmund have two big games coming up this week. The Black and Yellows will be in DFB-Pokal second round action against TSG Hoffenheim on Wednesday, before taking on title rivals Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga this weekend. It currently remains to be seen whether Kobel will be able to take part in either of the two games.

Gregor Kobel is not Borussia Dortmund’s only injury worry ahead of the home game against TSG Hoffenheim. Mats Hummels also picked up a calf issue against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday and had to be replaced by Niklas Süle.
