A crucial week lies in store for Borussia Dortmund, and it starts with a home game against TSG Hoffenheim in the second round of the DFB-Pokal.

Borussia Dortmund will be in DFB-Pokal action on Wednesday evening as they host TSG Hoffenheim. We should be in for a cracking cup tie between two teams that have made a strong start to the season in the Bundesliga.

The Black and Yellows are unbeaten across all competitions since losing to Paris Saint-Germain in September. They also claimed a hard-fought 3-1 win away to TSG Hoffenheim when these two sides last met in the Bundesliga.

But Hoffenheim will be eager to gain a measure of revenge on Wednesday, and they prepared for the Pokal tie by ending Stuttgart’s winning run in the Bundesliga this past weekend.

Wout Weghorst scored his first goal for Matarazzo Pellegrino’s side on Saturday, and he will likely start up front against Borussia Dortmund along with talented young striker Maximilian Beier. Andrej Kramaric is sidelined with an injury, but Hoffenheim will hope to welcome Ozan Kabak back into the squad.

Borussia Dortmund have a number of injury concerns ahead of the game, with question marks over the availability of Gregor Kobel (facial injury), Mats Hummels (calf), Felix Nmecha (muscle injury), and Emre Can (dead leg).

Edin Terzic could make a few changes to his side to give some players a breather ahead of Saturday’s crunch Bundesliga clash against Bayern Munich. Karim Adeyemi, Niklas Süle and Youssoufa Moukoko will all hope to get a chance in the starting XI. Moukoko was on target against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.
