Nico Schlotterbeck does not think that Borussia Dortmund have revenge on their minds ahead of this weekend’s Der Klassiker, but they will do all they can to get the three points.

Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich will lock horns this weekend for the first time since last season’s dramatic Bundesliga finale that saw the Bavarians lift the title on goal difference after Edin Terzic’s side failed to beat Mainz 05 at home. Nico Schlotterbeck does not think that the Black and Yellows are motivated by revenge ahead of the game. In an interview with Sky Sport, the centre-back said:

"“I don’t think we have any desire for revenge. We just want to win the game because every game is a must-win if you look at the table at the moment. Bayern have consistently been the best team in the league over the last few years, but we’ll give everything we’ve got to beat them on Saturday.”"

Bayern Munich were beaten by third division side FC Saarbrücken in the DFB-Pokal earlier this week. But Nico Schlotterbeck is not underestimating the challenge Thomas Tuchel’s will pose to Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

"“Bayern always want to win and it feels like they come with anger in their stomachs every week, the way they play. They have a very good team and I think the result in Saarbrücken doesn’t reflect the quality they have. We’re definitely not underestimating them.”“Bayern’s entire offense is in good form. Whether it’s Leroy Sané or Harry Kane. You can hardly stop them on your own, so we have to be very present and alert. If we can do that, we have a chance of keeping them at bay.”"

Borussia Dortmund have a poor recent record against Bayern Munich, having failed to beat them since 2019. Although Edin Terzic’s side managed to avoid their run of defeats against Bayern in this fixture last season. And BVB will now hope to finally get the better of Bayern in what would no doubt be a big statement of their title credentials.
