Borussia Dortmund player ratings from 2-0 win over Newcastle United
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund delivered one of their best overall performances of the season so far and were rewarded with a 2-0 win over Newcastle United.
After being on the end of a humbling defeat to Bayern Munich this past weekend, Borussia Dortmund showed their fight and resilience to claim a 2-0 win over Newcastle United. The win helped the Black and Yellows give a big boost to their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League round of 16.
Borussia Dortmund started the game on the front foot and took the lead through Niclas Füllkrug, who scored his first ever goal in the UEFA Champions League. As Newcastle United searched for an equaliser, Julian Brandt doubled BVB’s lead at the end of a swift counter-attack.
The win will come as a massive confidence boost for Edin Terzic’s side, who now find themselves in an excellent position in their Champions League group of death.
Here are our player ratings from Borussia Dortmund’s 2-0 win over Newcastle United.
Gregor Kobel (6/10)
With Newcastle United hampered by injuries, they simply did not have enough quality in their ranks to cause enough problems to Gregor Kobel’s goal. And the Switzerland international was able to enjoy a rather comfortable evening as a result.
