Julian Brandt not expected to leave Borussia Dortmund amid Arsenal, Newcastle interest

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl does not expect Julian Brandt to leave the club despite interest from Arsenal and Newcastle United.
Reports in England have claimed in recent days that Premier League sides Arsenal and Newcastle United are interested in signing Julian Brandt. The playmaker has been one of Borussia Dortmund’s top performers this season, having registered six goals and five assists in 16 appearances across all competitions.
But sporting director Sebastian Kehl has now made it clear that Brandt’s future lies with the Black and Yellows.
"“We didn’t extend Julian Brandt’s contract until 2026 in April for nothing,” Kehl told BILD. “He is a very important part of our team. That’s why a transfer is absolutely out of the question!”"
Brandt only signed a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund in April, and said then that he is determined to lead the club to success in the coming years. His current contract still has three years left to run.
The 27 year old has gone from strength to strength over the last 12 months, and is now one of the first names on the BVB team-sheet. He was also appointed to BVB’s leadership council before the start of the current season, and has become a vocal presence in the dressing room.
Borussia Dortmund signed Julian Brandt from Bayer Leverkusen in 2019 for a fee of 25 million euros. He endured a bumpy start to life at BVB, but has since become an indispensable player at the club. And it is highly unlikely that those in charge will look to part ways with him anytime soon.
