Valentin Barco

Many may have seen Valentin Barco feature for Boca Juniors on the losing side of the Copa Libertadores final recently, which was not a reflective sample of the potential that this young Argentinian has up his sleeve.

In the world of inverted full-backs, this talented youngster has all the potential to be moulded into a world class full-back, winger or even a vivacious central midfielder as his player attributes which I recently wrote about certainly suggest so. He currently plies his trade for Boca Juniors in Argentina’s Primera Division, and had his breakthrough season last year.

The 19 year old has solidified himself as one of South America’s finest gems, and his club and the continent as a whole will hope to keep him beyond 2024.

“Colo” as he is nicknamed, will be a big name in the near future. Whether he takes the route of jumping straight into a big money club as his next step, amidst interest from Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City, will be the talking point in months to come. But Borussia Dortmund could well be the perfect landing spot for Barco if they choose to pursue a move for him.
