Ian Maatsen

Ian Maatsen manages to make an impact wherever he goes. His versatility as a wing-back is his selling point, ferociously able to attack alongside his defensive skillset. His season long loan spells at Charlton Athletic and Coventry City left a lasting memory as he won fans over with the aforementioned attributes.

Likewise at Burnley last season, Maatsen reached new heights in the Championship as he played a pivotal role in the record breaking promotional triumph of Vincent Kompany’s side. He recorded ten goal involvements and the momentum was high upon his return to parent club Chelsea in the summer.

However, the Dutchman has had limited opportunities at Chelsea this season. He has started just two games in 23/24, both in the Carabao Cup.

With Euro 2024 set to take place next summer, Maatsen will likely be looking for consistent game time to be in contention for a spot in the Netherlands team.

Whilst a permanent move may not be possible, a loan move with a potential buy option could certainly benefit both parties.
