Felix Nmecha out for the rest of the year with hip injury
Borussia Dortmund will have to make do without Felix Nmecha until the end of the calendar year after the midfielder picked up a hip injury.
Felix Nmecha has had to deal with a number of injury problems since his big-money from VfL Wolfsburg to Borussia Dortmund in the summer. And now a hip injury means that he will be out of action until the turn of the year.
Edin Terzic revealed during a press conference on Thursday that while the midfielder will not be requiring surgery, the area of the injury means that he will not be able to play again until after winter break.
Nmecha’s injury is a big blow for Borussia Dortmund, as it leaves the team short of options in midfield. Salih Özcan, Emre Can, Marcel Sabitzer and Julian Brandt are likely to share the midfield duties in the coming weeks, while Marco Reus and Gio Reyna can also play there.
The Black and Yellows have a number of big games coming up before the winter break, including crunch Bundesliga matches against Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig, the DFB-Pokal tie against Stuttgart, and games against Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League.
Felix Nmecha has made a total of 15 appearances across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund so far this season, and scored the winning goal against Newcastle United in the Champions League last month. The 23 year old will now hope to return to full fitness in time for the start of the second half of the season.
