Bundesliga Roundup: Bayer Leverkusen continue winning run; RB Leipzig stunned by Wolfsburg

Bayer Leverkusen coasted to another victory to maintain their lead at the top of the Bundesliga standings, Harry Kane scored again for Bayern, while RB Leipzig fell to a shock defeat against Wolfsburg.

Matchday 12 of the Bundesliga season was full of enthralling action and spectacular goals. Bayer Leverkusen made it 11 wins in 12 matches by cruising past Werder Bremen. An own goal from Olivier Deman gave Xabi Alonso’s side the lead, before Jeremie Frimpong and Alex Grimaldo scored to secure the 3-0 win.

Borussia Dortmund produced another impressive comeback as they beat Borussia Mönchengladbach 4-2. Jamie Bynoe-Gittens spearheaded the turnaround for the Black and Yellows with a goal and an assist, after goals from Rocco Reitz and Manu Koné had given Gladbach a two goal lead. Marcel Sabitzer, Niclas Füllkrug, and Donyell Malen were also on target for BVB.

Harry Kane scored his 18th goal of the season in the Bundesliga as Bayern Munich claimed a 1-0 win over FC Köln to stay hot on the heels of Bayer Leverkusen.

RB Leipzig dropped out of the top four after falling to a 2-1 defeat to Wolfsburg. Despite dominating possession and creating a host of chances, Marco Rose’s side were undone by goals from Jonas Wind and Rogério.

A brace from Deniz Undav helped third-placed VfB Stuttgart earn a hard-fought 2-1 win away to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Union Berlin finally ended their losing run in the Bundesliga as they played out a 1-1 draw against FC Augsburg. A missed penalty from Robin Knoche did not come back to bite the Berliners, as Kevin Volland scored a late equaliser after Ermedin Demirović had given Augsburg the lead.

SC Freiburg could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to Darmstadt, with Lucas Höler cancelling out Mathias Honsak’s first-half opener. Relegation threatened VfL Bochum and Heidenheim played out a goalless draw. Meanwhile, Hoffenheim needed a 48th minute equaliser from Robert Skov to come away with a point against Mainz 05, who had taken the lead through Marco Richter.
