Yet on Tuesday evening, the Black and Yellows returned from their European travels in Italy having beaten AC Milan 3-1 in the Group of Death. They have qualified for the knockout stages of the competition with one game to spare.
Borussia Dortmund would have even won Group F on Tuesday, had it not been for the blasphemous penalty call that saved Kylian Mbappe and PSG’s skins against Newcastle United in the 97th minute.
It was a game of whirlwind emotions – some frustrations, nerves and excitement – but the overall satisfaction of the night was felt after a historic victory for Edin Terzic’s side.
