5 players BVB must ship if they are serious about growing

With a 2024/2025 season to forget, Borussia Dortmund will likely go for a squad overhaul at the end of the campaign. Here are five names BVB should sell if they are serious about the future.

Niklas Süle came to Borussia Dortmund in a free transfer after running down his previous contract in Münich. The German international came to the Signal Iduna Park with a high-figure salary and, as Uncle Ben once said: "With great power comes great responsibilities." Hence, it is nothing but fair that BVB fans had similar expectations of Süle, especially when looking at his wages and lobby.

Unfortunately, Süle's tenure in Dortmund has been full of setbacks, including injuries, physical mishaps, and inconsistent performances, which ultimately led to him being left behind in the pecking order. Even with the constant managerial changes at the club, Niklas found it hard to get a proper sequence of matches in Black-and-Yellow.

With one of the highest salaries in the squad, Niklas Süle is entering the final year of this deal. Even with the clause in BVB players' contract that would trigger pay cuts in the absence of European qualification, this is not the case for Süle, who would still be getting paid figures independently. In that scenario, this summer would be the ideal time to move him out; however, how high of a transfer fee would someone pay for a (indeed good) player when he has injury issues and only 824 minutes in 12 matches this campaign?
