As rumors swirl of a possible return of Jadon Sancho at the Westfalenstadion, the question has to be asked: is this the right move? Jadon has faced an immense amount of turmoil and scrutiny since his initial move away from Dortmund in 2021. Having played for three teams since 2021, Jadon has accumulated 15 goals and 16 assists in 145 games. In those years, he has lifted the Conference League with Chelsea and made it to the UCL final with Dortmund.

What we know: According to Bild, Jadon has stated that he would be willing to take a major pay cut for a transfer to Dortmund. Currently earning 16 million euros, he would take a pay cut of nearly 50%, which would still have him as one of the highest earners at the club. Allegedly making contact with Dortmund management, Lars Ricken and Sebastian Kehl, his transfer to Dortmund would be a matter of his love for the club and the city.

With all these reports circulating, it seems Jadon Sancho's desired transfer is a return to the Black and Yellows, even with rumors of Juventus being interested in the player. The transfer fee would likely be from 18-20 million euros, but the final call is up to Niko Kovac. According to Bild, Kovac is someone who prioritizes the discipline of players, and could see Jadon as someone who goes against the standards he has for players, as he may be wary of the attitude and work rate of Sancho.

Final thoughts: The return of Jadon Sancho could be the attacking threat Dortmund have been seeking to solve the final puzzle. His abilities and style of play could bring the best out of other attackers such as Guirassy, Beier, and Adeyemi. Perhaps most importantly, Jadon has made it clear he wants to be at Dortmund.

That type of love for the club is something the management must take into account heavily. This doesn't appear to be a transfer that the player is using as a stepping stone, but more of a desire to enjoy football again, win silverware with the club, and finally reestablish himself in the ranks of Europe's elite attackers.

As clubs across Germany and Europe continue to strengthen their squads, a transfer like this could be one of the solutions to the many issues Dortmund are facing in this summer window.
