As reported by Patrick Berger, and Sky Sport Germany, both Aki Watzke and Lar Ricken as well as others traveled to Salzburg and met with Ralph Rangnick regarding Borussia Dortmund’s managerial position.

Rangnick’s signature will be difficult to secure, as he’s the current coach of the Austria National team, under contract December of this year, but he has the experience of rescuing a club from crisis, like he did as Interim Manager of Manchester United in the 2021-22 season.

According to the reports, Rangnick is likely to turn down any offers but will remain a hot candidate as the Borussia Dortmund regard him highly. This is not the first time Rangnick has been linked with the Borussia Dortmund managerial position.

Niko Kovac remains a top candidate as well, though it seems he would prefer a longer-term contract than just until the end of the season. The Borussia Dortmund hierarchy met with Kovac last Friday.
