Long has the name Jobe Bellingham been muttered among Borussia Dortmund pundits, fans, writers and more, but could the younger brother of Jude Bellingham actually make a move to BVB?
The rumors were renewed in this morning's edition of the German tabloid, Sport Bild, it’s been suggested that Dortmund isn’t just interested in the 19-year-old; they’re ready to make him one of their primary targets this winter. Sebastian Kehl and Lars Ricken are said to be especially keen on the Sunderland midfielder. They could see him develop into an important figure in Borussia Dortmund’s squad as they attempt to rebuild the midfield this summer.
BVB’s pursuit of Jobe Bellingham could become complicated as Championship side, Sunderland, is expected to require 25-30 million euros. RB Leipzig is also rumored to be in the race, with new Red Bull Head of Global Soccer, Jürgen Klopp, expected to exert his influence on transfers to clubs under the RB umbrella.
Jobe could be enticed to come to Dortmund after seeing his older brother flourish there. In addition, BVB has maintained a positive relationship with Mark, father of Jude and Jobe, and the family knows well what Dortmund has to offer.
The pursuit of Jobe is looking increasingly likely, as local newspaper, RN BVB, a generally more reputable source, is now reporting Sebastian Kehl, Lars Ricken, and BVB trainer Niko Kovač are all traveling to Newcastle today to meet with the player’s camp, and open negotiations. Newcastle is just 20 km from Sunderland.

Even Sky journalist, Patrick Berger is reporting on BVB’s latest links with Jobe. He insists no deal has been made, but his situation is being monitored. His contract at Sunderland runs through 2028, so if he doesn’t make a move this summer, we can expect continued links with the Englishman. Dortmund’s Chief Scout, Sebastian Krug, is in regular communication with Jobe’s family.
Jobe Bellingham’s career started similarly to his brother’s, at Birmingham City, but in 2023, the then 17-year-old made a move to Championship rivals, Sunderland, where he’s made 85 appearances and scored eleven. Jobe is shaping up to be a similar prodigy to his brother.
No decisions have been made, but Borussia Dortmund is expected to overhaul their squad this summer, with an emphasis on the midfield.
