Germany U-21s qualified for the 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship with a 2-1 win over Bulgaria on Friday, with Maximilian Beier on the scoresheet.
Maximilian Beier marked his return to the Germany U-21s with a goal as he helped them secure their place in next summer's UEFA European Under-21 Championship. The Borussia Dortmund striker needed only nine minutes to make an impact against Bulgaria on Friday, as he rose highest and turned Rocco Reitz's cross into the back of the net with a powerful header.
Nikola Iliev equalised for Bulgaria, before VfB Stuttgart's Nick Woltemade scored what proved to be the winning goal from the penalty spot in the second-half.
Maximilian Beier on target for U-21s, Pascal Groß in action for Germany
Beier was taken off in the 92nd minute with the game already in the bag for the Germany U-21s. The 21 year old will hope to take some confidence from his goal and performance, having failed to make the desired impact since joining Borussia Dortmund from TSG Hoffenheim in the summer.
Pascal Groß was also in action on Friday as the Germany senior team went up against Bosnia and Herzegovina. A brace from Deniz Undav secured the three points for Julian Nagelsmann's side as they moved two points clear at the top in their Nations League group.
Waldemar Anton was brought on in the closing stages of the game, replacing his Borussia Dortmund teammate. While Nico Schlotterbeck was an unused substitute for Germany.
Jamie Gittens came off the bench for the England U-21s who claimed a hard fought come from behind win over Ukraine. James McAtee scored a late brace to all but secure England's place in the 2025 European Under-21 Championship.
