The Black and Yellows traveled to Lisbon, where they delivered Niko Kovač his first win, thanks to a dominant second half.

Gregor Kobel (8/10) – It’s a clean sheet, and Borussia Dortmund earned it! Gregor Kobel showed up today, making six saves. Although most shots were routine saves or blocks, it was a solid game from our shot-stopper, and this should give him some confidence.

Julian Ryerson (7/10) – Ryerson did Ryerson things in this match, including but not limited to intercepting the ball, clearing the ball, recovering the ball, and winning tackles. His crossing left much to be desired, but otherwise, he was strong.

Emre Can (7/10) – With both Süle and Anton on the bench, I was surprised to see Emre Can starting as a center-back again. Still, the captain played the part quite well, even sprinting back for a brilliant challenge on Viktor Gyökeres.

Niko Schlotterbeck (7/10) – Schlotti completed more passes than any other player in this match, and he landed nine successful long balls, a skill he must have inherited from a certain Mats Hummels.

Daniel Svensson (6/10) – For his first start for Borussia Dortmund, Daniel Svensson performed admirably. While he wasn’t the strongest defensively in the first half, he more than made up for it in the second. Svensson’s attacking progression was most impressive.
