Emre Can (3/10)

Playing in the number six role, Can had a poor start to the game and gifted possession to St. Pauli in midfield and they nearly scored on the counter-attack. The Borussia Dortmund captain once again looked unsure on the ball in the face of pressing from St. Pauli. He was lucky his giveaways did not result in a goal for the away side, and Nuri Sahin decided to take him off in the second-half.

Pascal Groß (6/10)

Groß wasn't able to exert his influence on the game in the way he would have liked, but still helped set up the opening goal. He was taken off at half-time with what looked like an injury.

Marcel Sabitzer (5/10)

After an excellent international break with Austria, Sabitzer returned to the starting XI for Borussia Dortmund. But he wasn't able to make much of an impact while playing on the left. He looked a lot better after the break when he moved into the middle of the park following the withdrawal of Groß.
