According to Sky journalist, Patrick Berger, several Borussia Dortmund players are slated for a return to the German National Team. Recent performances in Black and Yellow have highlighted the talent of several individuals, and DFB trainer Julien Naglesman has noticed, and will require their services in the near future, especially as the Final Four of the Nations League looms.
Most notably, Waldemar Anton is expected to make his DFB return. Following the season-ending to Nico Schlotterbeck, Waldemar Anton stepped up and became the starting center back in the most important, and successful period of the season. His leadership and stability would be an asset to the DFB squad.
Pascal Groß is also expected to be called up, as he’s been a regular in the squad during the twilight of his career. He’s also been an important member of Dortmund’s squad in recent months with impeccable ball control and playmaking acumen.
Another player expected to be recalled, is Karim Adeyemi, who has only six senior caps with the DFB. However, it could be argued the young German is in the best form of his life, showcasing his agility and goal-scoring ability in recent Bundesliga matches.
Patrick Berger also suggested there could be additional BVB players returning to the National Team as well. Felix Nmecha could not be ruled out, and Niklas Süle could be a surprise candidate since he’s able to play in the center and right.
With the prospect of several Bporussia Dortmund players on the German National team, I’ll certainly be more likely to watch their upcoming match against Portugal at the beginning of June.
