Despite many reports suggesting that Borussia Dortmund will not be active in the January transfer window, the club has been heavily linked with Manchester City’s Norwegian winger Oscar Bobb.
The 22-year-old can join Borussia Dortmund on loan at the end of the season if Antonie Semenyo arrives at Manchester City from Bournemouth. Clubs like Crystal Palace, Newcastle United, and Bournemouth are also said to be interested in the player. Outside of the Premier League, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla are clubs that are monitoring the player’s situation.
Despite returning from a long term injury Bobb has seen very limited playing time at The Etihad. He has only made 9 Premier League appearances and 3 outings in the Champions League this season.
Borussia Dortmund eye yet another Man City youngster
Borussia Dortmund will reportedly include a buy option in the loan deal, which can cost them up to 34.5 million Euros, according to the Daily Mail.
Bobb is a pacy winger who likes to take players on and excels in creating chances. He also contributes with goals and is known for his through balls.
Borussia Dortmund will be looking to add fire power and more options to their front line. With Karim Adeyemi in the middle of several controversies and inconsistent performances they can use the help of Bobb in attack.
In addition to that, Belgian winger Julien Duranville is expected to leave on loan during the January transfer window. Because of this, an additional player is on the list of BVB bosses.
Dortmund have only lost one game in the league during the Hinrunde. However, failure to see out games and not being on the front foot after taking the lead meant that they drew matches here and there. This has widened the gap to leaders Bayern, and now the Black and Yellows are nine points behind the defending champions.
The addition of Bobb can help Dortmund play more decisively and adds much needed variety and skill in the front line. Even though the other attacking players like Serhou Guirassy have had their moments, it wasn't as often as desired.
Previously, Jadon Sancho spent four successful seasons at Borussia Dortmund after leaving Manchester City in search of better playing time. Niko Kovac will be hoping that the same will work in the case of Bobb.
The Bundesliga seems like the ideal place for Bobb to showcase his talent and develop as a player. The fact that BVB has incredible success in nurturing talent also helps.
