Borussia Dortmund and Evonik extended their iconic partnership. After almost 20 years as a sponsor of the eternal Black and Yellow shirt, Evonik is moving off the pitch and becoming Dortmund's new Champion Partner on the sidelines.
The renewed partnership will be for five years, in which Evonik and BVB will collaborate primarily on relevant topics, such as sustainability and health. Topics like these are mutually important for all parties involved in terms of strategic orientation.
In addition to that, Evonik will utilize Borussia Dortmund's national and international recognition on behalf of their own brand, customer loyalty, and employer branding. The partnership will also majorly focus on the Black and Yellows' worldwide summer tours, as well as other football-related activities, such as the football academy and e-football. The partners, however, preferred not to disclose the financial elements in the operation.
Previously an unknown brand, Evonik became well-known in world football when it started as the main element in Borussia Dortmund's jersey, especially during the winning run in the early 2010s. BVB Managing Director, Carsten Cramer, commented on the new partnership with Evonik, highlighting the natural bond between BVB and the chemicals company:
"The way Borussia Dortmund and Evonik have developed their partnership and lived it out in trust over 20 years can certainly be considered a blueprint for successful sponsorship in sports. The fact that this shared bond remains intact in economically challenging times demonstrates the enormous appreciation both companies have for one another. We look forward to taking our cooperation to a new, but no less exciting, level."Carsten Cramer, BVB Managing Director
