Given the uncertainties regarding Gio Reyna's situation, James McAtee was linked to Dortmund as a strong candidate to compete with Julian Brandt in the number 10 role. As the youngster aspires to play for more first-team minutes, BVB could become the ideal place for him to develop.
Even so, this deal is currently in cold waters; Gio's eventual departure could mean that Dortmund comes back to this deal in full strength. With clubs like Bayer Leverkusen also reportedly interested in McAtee, Dortmund could put their hand in the next Cole Palmer if they play their card right.
