Borussia Dortmund had another injury setback in the squad, and that has been a recurrent one. The center-back Filippo Mané has torn a muscle fibre in the last Dortmund U23's 4-2 defeat against SV Wehen Wiesbaden for the third division, which will therefore keep him sidelined for several weeks, as RN reported.
The Italian defender had just returned from a muscle injury that kept him off the pitch for roughly 60 days. Unfortunately, Mané picked up another critical injury on his return as a starter for the U23 Dortmund team, who are competing against relegation in 16th place in the table, and with two matchdays to go. With Zimmerman not returning for next season, former U19's and first team interim manager Mike Tullberg will take over the role and try to recover a talented but struggling side.
Those were not the only times Filippo Mané has stayed sidelined this 2024/2025 season, with two other injuries and an illness, which have dynamited his minutes in the current campaign. Mané has played only six matches in the current season, including five in the 3. Liga and one Youth League match, totalizing 273 minutes on the pitch.
With his recurrent injury history and a lack of proper minutes, Filippo Mané has not had the time to develop as a football player. Despite being a player with good prospects for first-team minutes, his injury issues raise questions over his durability at such a young age, or whether he will be fit enough to make an impact in the near future. Independently, all fans can do for now is wish him a speedy recovery.
