Felix Nmecha laments Borussia Dortmund's second-half giveaways in Real Madrid defeat

Felix Nmecha felt that Borussia Dortmund lost control of the game in the second-half as they fell to a 5-2 defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday evening.
Borussia Dortmund let a two-goal lead slip and fell to a 5-2 defeat to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League. After a breathtaking first-half performance, the Black and Yellows were left overwhelmed by Real Madrid's pressure and conceded five goals in the second-half.
Nuri Sahin's side failed to make the most of what appeared to be a golden opportunity to defeat Real Madrid in a rematch of last season's UEFA Champions League final. And after the game, Felix Nmecha lamented the team's sloppy giveaways and lack of control in the second-half.
Felix Nmecha reflects on Borussia Dortmund's 5-2 defeat to Real Madrid
"We started the game very well, we were in control, played good passes and created good chances," Nmecha told Amazon Prime Video after the game. "We didn't show the same face in the second half, and stopped playing [our natural game] and maintaining possession. We gave the ball away far too easily, which makes Real more confident and they know how to exploit that with their good players. If you don't close down the spaces when Real get their chances, they'll score them."
Despite the result, Nmecha felt that there were some positives for Borussia Dortmund to take. One of those positives was the 24 year old's performance. Nmecha was one of BVB's top performers in the first-half, and dominated the midfield battle. But like the rest of the team, he failed to keep up his performance levels after the break.
Felix Nmecha will now hope to retain his place in the starting XI when Borussia Dortmund take on FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga this weekend.
