According to kicker, Gregor Kobel will stay in Borussia Dortmund for the 2025/2026 season. The Swiss shot stopper has reportedly been irritated with the conversations regarding a possible departure in the summer. The player is known to be comfortable in Black and Yellow and is not planning to leave at this point.

There has been some speculation on Gregor Kobel's future since the Pokal elimination to Wolfsburg this season, where he, in a state of fury, showed all his dissatisfaction with the club's situation at that point in time. Indeed, with Champions League football miraculously guaranteed at the added time of the campaign, the odds of Kobel staying became higher.

Kobel is a key piece to Borussia Dortmund's success. Despite his decreased stats in the 2024/2025 season compared to his past performing years, Kobel is still a pivotal piece in BVB's defense, and the display against Leverkusen away on Matchday 33 is enough evidence to support that statement.

Thankfully, despite many rumors surrounding his departure from Dortmund, Gregor Kobel has always shown to be loyal to the Black and Yellows, and the recent news indicates that he will remain in the post for BVB in the 2025/2026 run. Kobel is just a difficult piece to substitute in the squad, as it has not been easy for many top clubs to find an almost unquestionable keeper protecting their net.

At only 27, Kobel can become a figure who Dortmund fans learned to appreciate for years and years on, and it seems like he is not going anywhere.
