Julian Nagelsmann, the German national team manager, made some comments regarding Borussia Dortmund's chaos of a season and, mainly, how that affects BVB players' role in Die Mannschaft. As Sky Sports journalist Patrick Berger reported on X, Nagelsmann, who was previously linked with a managing job at the Black-and-Yellows, gave his honest insights on BVB's current status:
"The whole of BVB is going through a difficult phase. Even if some people were hailing them again after the game yesterday. The second half was good, but the first was different."Julian Nagelsmann
Interestingly enough, even with Borussia Dortmund's instability this season, three players were selected by the DFB to represent Germany during the Nations League quarterfinal matches on March 20th and 23rd. Nico Schlotterbeck, Pascal Groß, and Karim Adeyemi will be part of the squad that will attempt to guarantee a spot in the competition's semifinals.

However, Nagelsmann did not spare the Black-and-Yellows on how their season is developing, even with the team reaching a spot in the Champions League quarterfinals against FC Barcelona. He mainly criticized how Dortmund's current form affects his squad planning in preparation for the important competitions ahead, like the 2026 World Cup:
"It is very difficult for individual players to shine at the moment."Julian Nagelsmann
It is definitely hard to disagree with Nagelsmann as things stand for BVB right now and with the damaging prospect of staying out of Europe for next season. Even so, the quality of BVB's squad is undeniable, as players like Schlotterbeck and Adeyemi still shine amidst Dortmund's administrative mess. In contrast, others like Pascal Groß managed to resurge under manager Niko Kovač.
