Former Borussia Dortmund head coach Jürgen Klopp has made the surprise move to the Red Bull group, joining them as their new Head of Global Soccer.

There had been plenty of speculation surrounding Jürgen Klopp's future in football following his decision to step down as Liverpool manager at the end of last season. Now his next destination has been revealed, with the former Borussia Dortmund head coach set to join the Red Bull group as their new Head of Global Soccer.

"The role may have changed but my passion for soccer has not" - Jürgen Klopp joins Red Bull group

"After almost 25 years on the touchline, I could not be more excited to get involved in a project like this. The role may have changed but my passion for soccer and the people who make the game what it is has not," Klopp said.

As part of his new role, Klopp will support the management at the various Red Bull clubs around the world in further developing a shared playing philosophy. He will also assist in scouting players and help with the development of coaches.

Clubs under the Red Bull umbrella include RB Leipzig, RB Salzburg, New York Red Bulls, Leeds United, and RB Bragantino.

Klopp will start his new role on January 1, 2025. The 57 year old's decision to join the Red Bull group comes as a surprise to many, but not to Hans-Joachim Watzke. The Borussia Dortmund boss told Sky Sport that he wishes his former colleague the very best in his new role. "It was no surprise to me because we spoke about it in person. I wish Jürgen, as always, the best of luck in his new job."

Jürgen Klopp most recently coached at the Westfalenstadion last month at the farewell match for Lukasz Piszczek and Jakub Błaszczykowski.
