Borussia Dortmund made a 22.5 million euro bid for Lyon's midfielder Rayan Cherki, but the French club rejected the attempt. The information was initially from Fabrice Hawkins and then confirmed by Patrick Beger, who guarantees that the Black-and-Yellows will not give up that easily to sign Cherki this winter. But Lyon is making matters difficult.

According to Kerry Hau, Lyon has blocked several attempts from Dortmund to sign Cherki, arguing that BVB is "too late." Berger has the same information and states that Dortmund will still try to improve their previous offers to strike a deal for the Frenchman.

John Textor, Lyon's owner, said yesterday to Canal Plus that there is no chance of Cherki leaving the club on Deadline Day following Lyon's defeat against Marseille. Based on a verbal agreement Cherki has with the club, the midfielder could still leave on the last day of the transfer window, but the French club and Textor do not look forward to losing their best player. A Deadline Day soap opera with still more chapters ahead.
