With 43 appearances in all competitions and an FA Cup trophy, French center-back Maxence Lacroix had a strong season at Crystal Palace in 2024/25.

Lacroix has been at the center of his side’s success under Oliver Glasner. For this reason, many clubs are showing interest in the player. In addition to the Black and Yellows, Tottenham Hotspur and several Italian clubs are also reportedly interested in him.

Lacroix’s contract runs until 2029. Crystal Palace acquired him for only 18 million Euros, and his market value is said to be 25 million Euros.

Lacroix, who previously played over 111 games for VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, could strengthen the BVB rearguard.

Nico Schlotterbeck, who is the main defender of the side, is currently injured. Because of that, Borussia Dortmund will understandably be looking at players to strengthen the position in the ongoing summer transfer window

Lacroix spent a few seasons in the Bundesliga at Wolfsburg before his move to the English Premier League. Having started his football journey in the French second division at Sochaux, he has come a long way to become a player coveted by Europe’s big clubs.

The way Lacroix adapted quickly to the Bundesliga was a surprise for many people in Germany. And he was reunited with his former boss, Glasner, at Palace to help the club win its first-ever major trophy.

According to Whoscored, Lacroix excels in tackling and ball interception. He is also a player who likes to play long balls.

Crystal Palace are set to miss out on the Europa League because of UEFA’s rule against clubs with the same owner playing in the same competition. Nottingham Forest who were initially set to play in the Conference are set to replace The Eagles, with Palace moving one competition lower. Borussia Dortmund will offer Lacroix guaranteed participation in the Champions League. This can be one more reason for the French defender to choose the German giants.
