As reported by Bild, Nico Schlotterbeck's recovery from his injury is going well, as he is already completing parts of his rehab program at the training ground in Brackel. Even if his knee is not fully 100% just yet, Nico is working on his strength training for now, and he is expected to return to team training in September at the earliest.

Before that becomes feasible, BVB's number 4 is focusing on two important events that are coming up: his wedding and contract extension. While the player is fully investing in the wedding planning with his wife Sabrina, which is scheduled to take place in Mallorca, Spain, at the end of May, the conversations regarding a new deal should happen relatively soon as well.

In that department, Lars Ricken and Sebastian Kehl are planning to present Nico Schlotterbeck with a new 5-year contract proposal, which would bind the German international with the Black and Yellows for the foreseeable future. As a sign of appreciation, Ricken and Kehl wish to offer Nico a salary of 10 million euros, as the club plans to build a team around Schlotterbeck that can fight for trophies with consistency.

In terms of decision-making, it would be a great move for Borussia Dortmund if they manage to keep Schlotterbeck at the club for the future. As Nico has proved season in and out, he should be the key piece that successful football clubs build their teams around.
