According to Sky Sports, Borussia Dortmund’s coaching staff will receive a 1-million euro bonus for qualifying the team for next season’s UEFA Champion’s League. When the Croat took over in February, the Black and Yellows were in lowly 11th place, but Niko Kovac and his coaching staff led the team to 4th place on the final matchday. Now, he’s going to be rewarded for the accomplishment in the form of monetary compensation.
Sky Sports reports that Niko Kovač’s coaching staff is to receive a 1-million euro bonus for their recent efforts. Kovač is said to be seeing 750,000 euros, which he’ll split with his assistant coaches, Robet Kovač, and Filip Tapalovic. That’s not a bad incentive to have tucked away in Kovač’s contract.
Niko Kovač’s squad earned 22 points from a possible 24 in their final eight matches, winning every match except for a draw at Bayern Munich. The former Wolfsburg, Monaco, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Bayern Munich manager has a contract with the Black and Yellows until the end of next season, but if he continues on a positive trajectory, talks of an extension could heat up after the Club World Cup, especially as the Borussia Dortmund hierarchy plans for the long term.
Niko Kovač already had a hand in bringing loanees Carney Chuykwuemeka and Daniel Svensson to the club at the end of the January transfer window, and while it doesn’t look like Chukwuemeka will work out, Daniel Svensson has made a huge impact this Rückrunde, and already signed a permanent deal keeping him at the club until 2029.
