Croatian manager Niko Kovač remains the leading candidate to replace Nuri Sahin as BVB manager. Borussia Dortmund directors flew to Salzburg this Monday for a secret meeting with Kovač to analyze the nuances of a possible deal. BVB wants to sign Kovač in a short-term deal until the end of the current season.
However, that does not appear to be the former Bayern Münich and Frankfurt boss. According to Patrick Berger, a meeting took place already on the weekend, during which Kovač denied the possibility of a short-term contract to play a "fireman" role until the summer.
As Berger reported, if Borussia Dortmund cannot strike a deal with Kovač, Mike Tullberg might be the first-team interim coach until the end of the season.
